Woolly Diversions

I seem to be doing quite a bit of needle felting just lately - it is good fun and quick to do - great for a diversion from other things. A pleasant way to procrastinate!

Messing around with wool

I love doing needle-felting - I find it very relaxing (though you have to be very vigilant with those sharp needles - it is easy to miss the wool and stab yourself) Here some things I made this week

Some stuff I've been doing.

Here are a couple of pics of what I have been up to this week. The woven containers are made from scraps that are left over when I prepare cut card for students to work on at my school - rather than throw the strips out, I decided to turn them into something useful. The doll is very small and is a special project for a gallery window display. Little doll with big journey ahead (to California).

New Piece Completed

Here are some pictures of my latest piece of sculpture (or is it a doll?)

This piece is made of cloth which has been painted. The head is cloth over paperclay, as is the bird. I call this piece: "Maybe....yet"

Renaissance Girl Completed

Here is my newest doll completed yesterday. She is dressed in silk fabrics and her hair is mohair which I have hand-knotted. Her companion animal is made from painted fabric . I've added a separate picture of the deer after doing a little more work on the painting.

Renaissance Girl - work in progress

Here is a new one-of-a-kind doll I am working on. She will be wearing Renaissance-inspired clothing, and will have a cloth fawn as her companion. The doll is cloth, with a moulded cloth head (with neck joint) and a hand-knotted mohair wig. She is posed here amongst the silks, including some vintage silk, that I am using to make the clothing.
