Is This My Best Work?

I have really enjoyed making this doll - I think it is one of the best pieces I have made. I started it while I was away, worked on it during the long flight over the Pacific - is still not finished, but it should be done in the next few days or so. This one is called "Silver Apples of the Moon, Golden Apples of the Sun". For those of you with a literary bent, this comes from the WB Yeats poem, Song of the Wandering Aengus.
The doll has cloth over clay head and limbs and a cloth body with joints. I am making a special chair for her to sit upon, using wire and ApoxieSculpt.

    She is breathtaking. The needlework on the bodice, the way her hand tenderly cups the apples, her pensive face. She's wonderful. I'm looking forward to seeing her chair.

    Hi Susie,
    I'm not sure how you can say she is the BEST! thinking all of your work is the best!!! Seriously, you've a signature...your work is recognizable anywhere and this Apple maiden is quite breathtakingly beautiful. I would love to see your work in person...has to be out of this world! Like your other dolls and creatures, you manage to convey emotion through their very expressive faces, especially the eyes...so beautiful.

    Maybe it's just because I had a vision of how this doll should look - expression, clothes, colour - everything and pretty much it all came together to match the picture in my head. That doesn't happen very often. Thanks for all the kind words! I'm just waiting on some ApoxieSculpt to arrive so that I can finish her "strangely encrusted" chair. I'm looking forward to that!

    Hi Susie, I can never find words to describe how wonderful your work is. I was so envious of all the lucky people who were able to take a class with you in the States.Is there any chance you will ever visit the UK?
