Bob was a great photographer........he always had good cameras and used them with true artistry. When he died, he left an all-bells-and-whistles top of the range digital SLR that I had no idea about how to operate. It sat there for a few months - I didn't feel "right" about using it. Silly, I know. Then, one day, it was almost as if I got a message to say that it would be OK to use it, in fact, it would be GOOD to use it, so I got it out, charged up the battery and set about learning its ways.......and the ways of macro lenses etc. I've been having fun and I KNOW Bob would approve. My photographic eye is quite different from his, but that is as it should be and I'm finding myself reluctant to go anywhere without the camera......just in case......
I did a bit of photography when I was at Art School, but that was in the days when cameras didn't need batteries and you had to put a film in the back of it. There is something about the smell of the darkroom chemicals and the pure alchemy of watching a slowly developing image that is missing now, but digital photography sure does simplify the process and make it accessible!

Of course, the opportunity often chances along to take some great shots, but they can only happen if you have a camera in your hand. I hope you enjoy looking at these as much as I enjoyed taking them. You can see that I am captivated by the beauty of pattern, abstraction and texture inherent in decay and dereliction.

S-L-O-W Bob!

I'm happy to say that after about a year of neglect, my husband has finally started to seriously update the blog that I helped him with............at last!
I added some gallery links to the top of his blog - don't know what he thought of my titles - all I got was a wry look when I told him that I called one "Sunset Swoons" - and then he told me that some were sunrises! I notice that he hasn't changed it, though.

Our Tasmania

I'd like to introduce you to my husband, Bob, adventurer, photographer and raconteur extraordinaire. (On the right in this picture)

He has just begun a blog (with a bit of a push and some help from yours truly) to showcase his wonderful photographs of the magical place we live in.......our Tasmania, and to update you on some of his exploits in Tasmania's wilder and less inhabited places.
Here's a taster:

These images are all from a walk he is doing around the entire coastline of Tasmania (for a book). If you want to see and read more, go to his blog http://bob-mytasmania.blogspot.com
He will be adding many more photographs once we work out the arcane and esoteric method needed to reduce photo files on a Mac computer.
So far, Bob has only one follower (guess who?) but I know he would love some more.........so if you want to keep updated on his exploits, please become a follower of his blog. You won't regret it!
