It's been a long time!

It's been way too long since I last wrote here on my blog. The noise and shallow chatter of Facebook seems to get in the way of the writing of more considered posts here on my blog. I have therefore resolved to make sure I post at least weekly, as I used to, because I find I can express myself more clearly when I'm not dashing off a quick FB post or reacting to some political rubbish that I probably shouldn't even bother with. It's such a waste of time and effort! Even if nobody ever looks at my posts, I still enjoy blogging.

At the moment I am in a mad dash to the line to get the last pieces completed for the "IMAGES" exhibition in Hobart (Long Gallery in Salamanca Place) It opens at 8 am on December 19th for any of you based in the South of the state and inclined for an early morning art experience........and CHAMPAGNE!

Upcoming Exhibition

I'm participating in a group exhibition in Adelaide, South Australia later this month entitled "THE DOLL REDEFINED" I think there are around thirty participating artists, so the work should be interesting and varied. It's at Gallery 1855 in Tea Tree Gully, opening on the 15th April at 2.00 pm.
As a native of Adelaide, I'm excited to be showing my work there and looking forward to the opening. Here are a some of the works I'm showing..........

 

Highlights From My Recent Trip

                           

Road Trip!

The time is almost here: next week I'm loading my ute (truck) onto the TT Line ferry and heading over to Melbourne. I'll be driving east to set up my exhibition in Meeniyan in South Gippsland. After the opening, I'll be setting off to Canberra via Bonang and Delegate, where I'll be spending a few days with a friend who has a cattle property in the high country. In Canberra I'm teaching at the Canberra Contemporary Craft Retreat for a few days, before setting off back down south to catch the ferry back home. It's been so long since I've had a ROAD TRIP, I'm excited and really looking forward to it! And the back of my ute is large with a rigid canopy, so I'll be able to take everything I need for a comfortable trip.

Meanwhile, I'm still working away in the studio, kind of waiting for the weather to warm up and dry out, so that I can really get stuck into painting and tidying up around here, because I'm planning to sell my house and five acres in a month's time. In some ways it's a reluctant decision, because Bob and I built this place literally with our own hands, but I'm finding there is too much to do to keep everything in order with such a big property when my priorities are tending to be elsewhere...........of course, when I relocate, I'll need another studio of some kind. I've been spoilt by this one - I know I'll never have another like it, but c'est la vie! Time to move on.

Two more Sorrydolls

After some days of frantic activity, I got two more Sorrydolls done to replace the ones sold at the exhibition in the Long Gallery in Hobart. (Actually, one should be called a Grumpydoll - see what I mean?) If the little grumpy one is slightly familiar, it's because I used the "Pensive Child" mould I made last year to make her face
So it was a quick trip to Hobart yesterday to deliver them, along with the piece I completed last week "Geranium Kiss". I decided to take the bus, as I find driving there and back in one day very tiring. And it was going to be 37 C in Hobart. And the air-con in my car is not working. And I can read on the bus. Enough reasons not to drive? I think so!

New Beginnings........

Firstly, the Tamar Valley Art Trail was launched on 9th December:

Here's the motley crew with the State Premier, Lara Giddings (she's the one with the signature scarf). Great launch at Velo Winery.

And then it was down to Hobart to set up my work in the "Images of Tasmania" exhibition in Salamanca's Long Gallery. Great opening on the 12th......a real buzz! Not quite sure about champagne at 8 am, however.....still pondering that one!
