Getting Away

We have just spent a wonderful weekend at Freycinet (Tasmania's 'Mediterranean' Coast!). We stretched it out on Sunday with a long walk over the saddle to Wineglass Bay, then over the isthmus to Hazards Beach and back via the headland. After all the wet weather we have had this winter, it was lovely to bask in some almost-warm sun!
We treated ourselves to a wine-tasting at Freycinet Lodge and then indulged in one of their fabulous seafood platters which was loaded with delicious local goodies (including abalone - yummm!)

Something Halloweeny?

Here is a little working drawing for my next doll - a response to the ADO Halloween Challenge. Halloween is just not a 'thing' here........the seasons and colours are all wrong for a start! So I've never actually made anything with a Halloween theme........this petulant little witch will be a first. See how it goes.
For any of you keeping an eye out for my 100th post giveaway.........I think this is number 88.

New Doll Completed

I have just completed this new doll - she is another as yet un-named "Redivivus" doll (made mostly of recyclables). Her little vest is knitted from that fabulous recycled sari-silk yarn.

This doll will be going into an exhibition next week at a local gallery.

Today my grand-daughter is celebrating her 13th birthday with a party for her friends at "Kids Paradise" - its pouring rain (again! - enough, already) so I'm glad its an inside affair!

A Busy Week!

I've had a fairly busy week this week - now that it is Saturday I have a moment to sit back, reflect and update my blog.
The winner of my recently-held '100 foll0wers' competition, Barbara, has chosen to have one of my Zoziedolls as her prize - I'll be completing it this weekend and sending it to her next week. That was so much fun, that I'll be having another one shortly - this one to celebrate 100 posts. I think this is number 83, so keep yer eyes peeled - won't take long to get to 100!
I have just completed this doll in the style of an Izannah Walker doll. Izannah was an American dollmaker with a cottage industry producing dolls for a number of decades from around 1850. Quite a few of them survive in remarkably good condition, which attests to her skill as a dollmaker. They also have a wonderful naive charm about them. I have tried to capture the essence of this type of doll whilst retaining my own "look".
Oh.........and a couple of new Zozies.
Darn it! I loaded the pics backwards........but you are clever enough to look at them in the right order, aren't you?
Please check out this new blog started by my friend, Linda Searle. She's only been making dolls for a short while, but she's doing fabulous work! www.lindasearledolls.blogspot.com

Something Different

I have been feeling a bit of an itch to do some painting lately........the itch has become so strong I can no longer ignore it! To that end, I have taken some photographs which I may translate into small still-life paintings in the near future.

Here also are the 'absolutely finished' pics of 'Little Red'.

Leila Picks A Winner!

Here is my grand-daughter, Leila, picking the winner of my 100 Followers Celebratory Giveaway. And the winner is........ *drumroll*........ Barbara from Winston Salem in North Carolina. I'm giving Barbara a choice from several prizes because I'd like her to have something that she would use/like. I'll let you all know what she chose later this week.

Thanks to everyone for making this so much fun!
