Last Sorrydoll

I was determined to finish this before I retired last night.........and that I did - at 2:00 am! So here she is: the third Sorrydoll and the final one for the December exhibition.

And here are the three of them together - you can see how similar/different they are:

I only have one more piece planned for the exhibition and will make a start on it this weekend with about ten days up my sleeve to get it completed. Once it is done, I can relax a little bit. Looking forward greatly to being in Hobart on the 11th December to set up and then for the opening at 8:00 am on the 12th.

Sunday, Peaceful Sunday

Painting plinths on a Sunday evening to fabulous sixties music......Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, The Band etc, etc. Full moon tonight.....the eighth moon.........for the first time I feel uplifted, not saddened by it.

Everything is lining up to be ready for delivery to Hobart for the exhibition on December 11th. I can't remember ever being this organized and on track to meet a deadline! What's happened?

Still a few more pieces to make, but having got the plinth problem dealt with, I can relax into getting them made.

Next Sorrydoll on the go....and pretty poppies in my garden, just because.

Sorrydoll

I'm going to make several dolls like this for the December exhibition. I usually take around a week to make something like this, but I was very certain where I was going with it, so it all happened really quickly......once I started working on it, I didn't want to stop! All done in a day and a half.

This morning, the doll was partially done - one arm missing and all pinned together - after I fell asleep over it last night, but she looked appropriate nestled up to some fading roses.

As the light failed this evening, I managed to get a couple of pictures of the doll almost completed. I will take some better pictures tomorrow.

And here is the Sorrydoll with "Lilt", her alter-ego.

Changes

I have been busy transforming one part of my studio into a dedicated display area to showcase finished work. While this is not a "gallery" as such, I'm hoping it has a bit of a gallery feel to it. There is still a way to go, with more plinths required to display 3D work and a glass-fronted cabinet for dolls.......but overall, I'm happy with the transformation. I almost feel ready for studio visitors as part of the Tamar Valley Art Trail, to be officially launched in early December.

The idea is that each studio will offer a different experience, ranging from working studios where the public can see artists at work, through to commercial galleries. When people do the popular Tamar Valley Wine Route, there will now be even more to do to enrich that experience! If you want to find out more, you can go to the website at http://www.tamarvalleyarttrail.org.au

A couple of studies for a larger work and.......

.....a working drawing for #6 in the "Sorrowful Songs" series.

Taking a break........

.......from Sorrowful Songs for a few days. I finished the little snowflake Sukeshi doll that was Kathy's choice as her prize in my "700 Followers" giveaway. I'll be posting it off in the morning. And I made up a few more that I plan to paint over the next few days and put in my Etsy store. These are such fun to make!
