Little Freja

"Freja" is the small (11") jointed cloth doll I took to String Camp to finish in my "spare" time - what little there was of it! So in between the Hindemith and Dvorak, chamber music and a couple of concerts I managed to get this little girl dressed. A few people commented that she looked Scandinavian, which hadn't occurred to me, but I agree.......so I gave her the Scandinavian name "Freja".

By the way, the music camp was wonderful.....it was the 25th year that it has been held and it has grown very large over the years - 160 players, 40 staff (conductors, tutors and other helpers) and four orchestras of different standards starting with an entry level orchestra. For the last two camps I have found myself in the second violins of the top orchestra. playing full scores in sometimes difficult keys, some of it very fast and with lots of contrasts and changes in dynamic etc. Whew! Hard work, but I managed to keep my head above water, Just. Still recovering.

Because it was the 25th year, we held a celebration dinner on the Wednesday with cake, balloons, presentations and speeches from the founders. All good fun. I have no photos - I was too busy - but you can go to the LYCO website http://www.lyco.org.au and you should be able to find some pictures there. Just go to the Summer String Camp link on the left - it will probably be a little while before the photos are there........everyone is recovering!

A Little Cloth Doll

Eleven inches (28 cms) jointed cloth. She has five joints: hips, shoulders and neck. Looking a bit grumpy in her birthday suit with only a woolly hat as she waits to be properly dressed!

2015!

New year......new page turned........365 pristine pages waiting to be written upon. I hope the story you write for 2015 is full of all you wish for. Me, I'm planning a year full of exhibitions, teaching and art-making. And music.
