All Done.........And The Giveaway!

This doll is now completed (except for her you-know-whats, but you know me - I usually do them last!). I must say I have thoroughly enjoyed creating this piece and at times I felt like I really was channeling Kaethe Kruse. I consider this piece a homage to the wonderful work she did.

I looked at lots of pictures of early "Doll 1's" to get ideas for the clothing. The majority of them seem to have been dressed in fairly simple, practical clothing, probably a lot like what small children of the era (early C20th) would have worn. I didn't make a direct copy of any one outfit - I just went with a general idea.

With her woollies on for a cool Spring day

Ready to play in the sunshine

OK - Now, about the 30 000 page views giveaway (I pinched this idea from my sister from when she was hosting a giveaway on her blog). This poor girl is nameless, so I'm asking you to suggest a name and leave it as a comment on this posting. Your comment will be your entry into the draw for a special hand-made prize something like this:

Or this - you get to choose:

It will be a random draw and the name the winner has suggested will become the name for the "KK" doll.
I'll do the draw in about two weeks. Good luck!

What a fun way to enter the drawing! I enjoyed reading everyone's names...you have hit upon a fabulous way of both naming your doll and engaging the entrants w/out the dog-n-pony show of "pat your head and rub your tummy, turn counter-clockwise three times and swear to be my devoted blog follower forever, in blood." :~P

I think the first one looks like Zenobia, and the second would be happy to be called Tomba.

Wonderful doll, she is lovely. My name would be Agnes "Aggie" for short. It is amazing what people could do with what they had. Reindeer fur, would have never thought of that. Nettle cloth must be made from the nettle plant. They still grow wild around me and are a type of wild woody herb. I know they were used for a lot of stuff. I sure would not have been the one to gather them. They are painful from their spikes on the leaves and create a blister that itches.
