Fungal Musings

It's the time of year when these glorious red-topped fly agaric (amanita muscaria) toadstools pop up under the pine trees.

They make rather wonderful props for a bit of creative photography:

This one was so perfect in form it almost didn't look real! To give an idea of scale, the little needle-felted hedgehog is around three inches (7 cms) tall.

he liked the view from the top.

......and had some fun with a little elfin friend!

Tansey insisted on giving it a try as well.........it made a fine little stool for her!

Susie, I adore your little elf on the toad stool. The photos of the little hedgie on it is wonderful as well. I hope you are having fun with these lovely dolls and animals.

Your little elf is wonderful Susie - full of character.
I also like the other two works of art and they look really cool on the toadstool.

Those mushrooms look so perfect they almost don't look real. Your wee hedgehog and elf look so sweet together:)

Are you going into your Fall season there? Thought maybe a bit of dampness in the air brought those lovely mushrooms out with a change of seasons. Love seeing them!

Yes - it's early winter here now, Sarah - lots of different fungi around. Some edible and some not - these are definitely NOT!
